client Testimonials:

"The core values of honesty, commitment and pride are all equally represented in Mountain Home Builders.  Pete Welker manages a team of craftsman that are detailed oriented, goal driven and cost conscious.  I have heard Pete say time and time again,"there are no problems...only solutions" and this was evident on our very remote location.  He and his team had to routinely come up with a solution to constant issues with building a large structure in a very remote location.  I was impressed with the forward thinking to solve one issue while keeping in mind if it affected other areas of the job farther down the line.  I would highly recommend Mountain Home Builders for any one looking for goal/time driven, detail oriented and value centered builders.  In today's society of immediate gratification, it is reassuring to find a Team that is more focused on long term lasting satisfaction and cultivating a relationship between builder and client."

"This endorsement is based on our experience of the renovation of my uncle’s “trappers” log cabin.  We collaborated with Dubbe Moulder Architects (DM) creating a conceptual design that transformed a rustic “trappers” log cabin into a spectacular mountain getaway in Wilson, Wyoming.  Searching for the contractor to execute our project, Pete Welker stood out with his positive can do attitude, his emphasis on the level of quality details he demands from his Mountain Home Builders (MHB) work force, and his promise to partner with us to build our vision, not just a well built home.

Once we broke ground, during demolition phase, we uncovered multiple hidden defects in the existing structure.  This was not totally unexpected since as an engineer I am experienced with construction projects and unknowns always occur when working with existing buildings.  The pleasant surprise was that as the challenges presented themselves, Pete promptly shared them with us and always had a work around plan that we could discuss.  There certainly were more issues than we wanted, but they were identified and solved as they occurred.  The solutions were a joint effort, because of my engineering background, and we came up with some very creative solutions, like jacking up the house and setting it on large wooden cribbing while replacing a failed foundation.  Pete always had a motto of “there are no problems, only solutions.”  By the end of the project, it was closer to the construction of a new home than a major renovation.

DM, MHB, and we evolved the architectural design to take advantage of the required repairs to the existing structures to enhance the design and add special features.  Basically we, as a team, made lots of lemonade out of lemons.  This serendipitous evolution of the project of course increased the cost, but provided significant added value.  MHB helped control the cost with quality subcontractors and competitive bids.  Scope changes were identified and evaluated for “fairness in pricing.”

MHB had a core of wonderful personnel, especially Steve Blankenship, the hands on foreman for our project, who kept everything moving and carried us to the finish line.  Pete’s set of standards for craftsmanship and finish details gave our home the custom feel with first class features.  MHB used established relationships with quality subcontractors and these relationships helped get us in line for necessary services in the tough Jackson Hole labor market that has a bigger demand for quality craftsmen than suppliers.  One interesting benefit for us was that Pete had a favorite painter, who not only did a quality job, but worked with us on paint color selections, listening to our visions and recommending how they should be accomplished.  We originally thought that we knew what colors to use and all a painter did was apply the paint properly, but with his help, we were able to create a superior ambiance for our home.

It was a pleasure working with Pete and MHB and we are proud of our joint creation.  We highly recommend working with MHB if you want something special and to have someone on your side to help overcome the inevitable challenges as they reveal themselves."
